In December 2010, Michael Dubin came up with a simple idea.

What if he sold razors for $1 each and they just showed up at your door each month .

Faced with the challenge of getting the startup off the ground and attracting investors, Dubin knew that  selling razors was a very competative    market. Also Gilette  owned 70 percent market share.

In order to grow his business and brand he would    have to think of some extremely creative and out of the box ideas.

So he created a hilarious video to connect with his target audience and cast himself as the protagonist in the Hero’s Journey of his own brand.

The video resonated with his target audience and got over 12 million views in just a few days.

That kick started his company and Dollar Shave Club was born. Based on that one video the brand grew expotentially. Best part  - he never spent on ads.

In 2015, just 3 years after launch Unilever bought  the company for 1 billion dollars.
